The first underground line of Budapest, capital of Hungary was opened in 1896. It was the first underground railway of the continental Europe (the first European metro line was opened in London, but only with steam locomotives). This was a special year: the country celebrated the 1000th anniversary of the foundation of Hungary (Hungary was established in 895 AC, and thus being one of the „oldest” countries all over in Europe - history lesson over).

All in all, 20 cars were made for the line by company „Schlick Iron foundry and Machine factory” (Schlick Vasöntöde és Gépgyár in Hungarian). Cars with number 1-10 were covered with yellow painted steel. Cars with numbers 11-19 were covered with American pine slaths in a deep brown colour. Car no. 20 was a special train: it was dedicated for the special guests of the line, it was called the „king car” as the emperor of the Austro-Hungarian empire, Franz Joseph travelled with it.

The original cars were used until the reconstruction of the line in 1973. In the beginning they had two motors, each had about 15HP of power. Later they were equipped with 60HP motors and “more modern” controllers.

In LOTUS you can drive the wood covered version in the state of the early ‘70s (just before withdrawn). The train has AI/Multiplayer scripts and supports joysticks (Throttle and Brake axis’s, individually, for the controller).
