Strawgrass Cascades (2020-06-20)

Recreation of my old HO scale layout, modeling the Milwaukee Road and Northern Pacific mainlines in Washington State between Seattle and Cle Elum, WA, circa 1948-1956. Or you could consider it the 1970s Rocky Mountain Division (similar pine forest sections) and run Little Joes which I also did for fun IRL. There are 2 snowsheds and 4 fairly large trestles. The tall one models Mine Creek in the Cascade Mountains and the low, long one models the Lind Viaduct MILW overpass of the Northern Pacific in Eastern Washington desert scrubland. I built 2 Milwaukee Electric Substations; a sloped-roof type in Cle Elum and a flat roof type near the lumber camp.

Since I had a lot more real estate to work with in RL than IRL, the side of the layout opposite of Lake Keechelus wasn't actually there on the real life HO scale version but I figured why not have some fun and add more. There is an interchange with the Great Northern (or Burlington Northern depending on your timeframe), an apple orchard, and an old abandoned section of the Milwaukee High Line which went steeply up the mountain before the tunnels were built. The section with the steel girder bridge models the MILW passing over the NP which I rode my bike on in real life.

There's a ton I'd still like to do (D-O-N-E is a 4 letter word), but I'm just gonna go ahead and publish now since the game is going to drastically change when the new modding system drops. There will hopefully be a better version at a later date. Enjoy and download my custom liveries also on the workshop if you want to experience it to the best degree.
