The English House RICO

Good evening!

The building has a huge (9400) amount of tris and because of that is made RICO with a monument as a basis.

This model is based on a renaissance house from Gdańsk, Poland.

According to what I found in the Internet;

Construction of this house was completed in year 1570 and it was the highest house in Gdańsk under the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Designed by Hans Kramer, an architect who came to Gdańsk from Dresden.
The house has seven floors, a huge decorative top at the front side and curved tops covering the roof from the other three sides.


Its name, the English House, comes from the XVIIth century, when English and Scottish would come to the house for trade, gatherings and holy masses.

Some people say that the current name of the house is a result of distortions throughout centuries and the house was originally called the Angelic House.

In Polish angielski means English and anielski means angelic, so a difference of a one letter between two very similar words sometimes can be barely visible.


Building was severly damaged in 1945, but significant chuncks of the facade survived, these later became a basis to reconstruct collapsed floors in the 1950s. Decorations were mainly restored in the 1970s.

Today this building hosts one faculty and a dormitory of Gdańsk's Academy of Fine Arts.
