[Minamisakura] Diesel Locomotive

Minamisakura is a fictional Japanese coastal city surrounded by mountains.

When talking about Minamisakura's diesel locomotives, one cannot overlook this one. Minamisakura used to have many, but now there are only three. One is used for the intercity service, and the other two were modified to clear heavy snow on the mountain tracks.

The two modified locomotives normally operate together, and are collectively nicknamed ツイン鬼, Tsuin Oni (Twin Oni), due to their red paint resembling the red skin of an Oni, as well as their snowplows being a resemblance to the Oni's horn. Their role of clearing snow from the mountain tracks resembles the Oni's modern role of warding away bad luck.

The one used for the intercity service is nicknamed ハチ公, Hachikō, after the dog, as this locomotive is the only one of its kind still used for the Minamisakura Intercity service. Due to this, the service is locally nicknamed the Hachikō Express.
