Midland Red Class 150 (Coach 1)

(Based primarily on the old English Electric DM / D class electric multiple units as they looked from the 1950's and into the 1980's. A select few red units remained in Midland Red into the 21st century. One particularly significant example is the 3-car 'Cyclops' unit, consisting of trailer cars D 2130 and D 2411 with motor car DM 556 in the middle).

Midland Red is one of the classic liveries from the days of New Zealand Railways. It was most common around the 1950's and 1960's. As well as Wellington's now-retired English Electric units, it was applied to a number of other locomotive types. Some of which were the DSA, DSB, DSC, EC, ED and EO classes; the latter three are electric.

As with most of my 'Sprinter' re-skins, this one carries the number of a real-life Sprinter unit. In this case, it's Class 150 No. 150222. I use Class 150 numbers because I feel that Rolling Line's Sprinter model bares a stronger resemblance to the 150 than any other member of the Sprinter family.
