Minerva II Guided Missile Destroyer

A modification of the Minerva class destroyer with the gravity cannon replaced by a guided missile launcher system, which uses Rdav's missile guidance script.

Guided missiles bring several obvious advantages over the gravity cannon, although on the downside the projectiles are somewhat more resource-intensive to produce and scripts are required for usage. The missile launcher system requires less space on the ship, resulting in a slightly lighter vessel. Furthermore, hangar doors were fitted to allow the missile silo to be protected when not in use.

The ship comes with the ability to switch between three different types of missile on the fly by switching between projectors. The three available missiles for the standard ship are as follows:

Missile HE (Yellow Tip) - Guided high explosive missile suitable for space
Missile KE (Red Tip) - Guided kinetic energy missile suitable for space
Missile HE (Green Tip) - Guided high explosive missile with atmospheric thrusters - suitable for planets

Ctrl-5 from either flight seat accesses the missile toolbar with all of the controls necessary to switch between different missile types and fire them.

Missiles can be automatically guided within 800m using the ship turrets. Beyond 800m they are manually guided by pointing the ship. Note: manual guidance seems to require manually arming the warheads of high explosive missiles before firing, which can be done from the control panel using the "warheads" group.

Aside from the change in main armament, the ship remains largely identical to its predecessor.
