I used $color and set it to a grey (90,90,90 for me) and $baseTexture with the name "white" on the date section. You can also use $phongboost and $phongexponent to make the glass shiny.
I'm sure there's another way to fix that issue, but this worked for me and might work for you, just make sure to save first before messing with overriding materials.
