right click on Chimera Squad in your steam library
click properties
click local files
browse local files
open the folder named XComGame
open the folder named Config
right click the file named DefaultGameData_DialogueData.ini and click Edit
right at the top of that file should be two lines that say bDisableCharacterVoices and bDisableCOPS
change the word "false" to "true"
ctrl-s to save
you are now playing silent xcom
I know you have posted a workaround below but I do not have the know how to do what you are suggesting.
if the mod isn't working, go into
XCOM-Chimera-Squad\XComGame\Config\DefaultGameData_DialogueData.ini
set bDisableCharacterVoices and bDisableCOPS to true
my mods so far are just quick ini edits, and although they worked when I tested them, I don't make XCOM mods so I'm not great at it.
