I've already done that, look up Destroyer Visible Upgrades, you will find a set of medels/animations for the Destroyer without the shield allowing for a different shield to be used.
could you make an trident soldier without the shield but with hotspots for adding other shield?

I use the "_all_units" scenario as a base for screenshots for the sake of simplicity, that's why you see the rectangles of roads and other units like Arcus and Promethean.
Yes, I do plan to release a "Visible Upgrades" mega mod which will include almost all human units. It's about halfway done right now, all Greek and Norse units are done and most of the Egyptians too.
