Vienna Fever: Addon Bu/Cu/CDu

This mod adds more variants of the Vienna Stadtbahn coaches. The main mod Vienna Fever: Stadtbahn is required.

In 1895/96, a simple passenger car with a low tare weight and high capacity was purchased for the lines of the then newly built Vienna Stadtbahn. A special feature were the buffers, which were installed in a retracted position under the boarding platforms in order to make the best possible use of the length over buffers. The wooden-planked, initially brown-painted and teak-clad light rail cars were designed by master architect Otto Wagner. Cu (3rd class), Bu (2nd class) and CDu (3rd class with luggage and toilet) were built.

The cars proved so successful that they were also purchased for other railway companies (including BBÖ and also CSD, built until 1924). Towards the end of their rather long service life, the coaches underwent a number of modifications, for example 3 of them became motor coach sidecars ÖBB 7028/7128, many coaches were given a sheet metal roof instead of a fabric roof, conversion to electric lighting, ...

The ÖBB itself completely retired the cars until 1962, but some light rail cars were still bought by the Upper Austrian company Stern&Hafferl and used until the early 1970s, so there are quite a few museum cars of these typical Austrian light rail cars today.
