4 Player Chess

Everything's setup for 4 player chess!

Can play 1v1v1v1 or 2v2. Everyone chooses their sides/teams (choose colors/teams at top right), then roll a dice or flip a coin to determine which team/player goes first.

The rules remain the same as regular chess. This includes that you're not allowed to move your king into harm's way - or out of harm's way - even if your king is under check (2v2). Everyone takes turns playing in a circle.

Checkmate does not kill a player until their king has been captured (taken/killed) by an enemy piece. Once a player's king is captured, their king is to be removed from the board but all of their pieces stay in place, inactive (but capturable). That player no longer makes any moves; their turn is skipped. If 2v2, the game continues on until both players on either team have been defeated.

Note: Pawns cannot go sideways. Players cannot move their allies' pieces in 2v2, only their own. Flip the direction indicators to change the direction (at the start of the game).
