40' Wood Milk Reefer GPEX - CA&S Shops

A wood reefer designed to transport canned milk from pickup points to the creamery or from the creamery to distribution points. This car would have been built between the 1900s and 1940 after which all car production would have been steel. These cars would often been found at the head end of passenger trains bound for cities to expedite fresh milk to thristy city dwellers as well as on fast freights and could still be seen into the 1970s. This one has been painted for General American Pfaudler Transportation GPEX.
