Safina is a hot desert planet almost entirely covered in endless seas of sand dunes, save for the occasional rocky mountain range tall enough to not have yet been overtaken by sand. Once a temperate planet, massive ancient lakes are now salt flats dozens of kilometers long that are perfect for testing experimental craft. It's not completely devoid of life however, as the last bits of vegetation cling to the half-dozen oases scattered across the planet; a consequence being that these are the only source of ice. Despite the hostile nature of the planet, there is notable interest in mining due to the relative abundance of platinum and other ores underground.
