[1.5] Found the artist! Description updated. Cleaned up the majority of opacity maps, with efforts concentrated around the Pulse effect linked to lightning flashes, aiming to enhance the 3D illusion created by throwing light and shadow around the room.
Smoothed animation loops. Adjusted timing of effects, emphasis on synchronicity. End result should be smoother, more fluid and natural-feeling version of [1.0].
[1.0] Saw someone else had made this wallpaper on Steam Wallpaper Engine, but they only added rain and steam. I thought it felt naked and unfinished with such limited animation, so I decided to try to fix it. Couldn't find the original image, so I took a screenshot and went from there. Very very happy with how it turned out. This might be my favourite project.
Changes I might make in future versions include toning down the ripples on the glass (the rain was originally heavier, I turned down the rain to better sync with SFX, and with the lighter rain the ripples stand out more); fixing some of the borders of opacity masks (as always); adjusting the pulse effect that corresponds to lightning and thunder (epilepsy concern?); or changing the sound files used for rain and thunder.
Please Note: The lightning effect is activated by sound, intended to be reactant to the ambient looping thunder sounds. For best results, do not have additional sounds playing.
