Great Northern W-1 passenger

The W-1 was a class of electric locomotive built by the Great Northern Railway. They were constructed to haul trains on the 73-mile (117 km) electrified portion of the railroad across the Cascade Mountains from Wenatchee, Washington to Skykomish, Washington, including the Cascade Tunnel. Only two locomotives were built, and they had an AAR B-D+D-B wheel arrangements.

These locomotives had a short service career, being retired in 1956 when GN decided to scrap its electrified equipment in favour of diesel, 5019 was scrapped, and 5018 was sold to UP which used it as a test bed for a useless coal burning turbine.

This particular one pulls an 8 car passenger train consisting out of pullman heavyweights.

This locomotive was a collaborative effort between me and Astro. Astro made the streamliner body initially, which i modified and fixed extensively, and i made use of my GG1 running gear and electrification equipment and added some extra details, the texture work is done exclusively by me.
