The Dudley Brothers often served as a comedic stable during their early days as part of Raven's Nest.

In April 1996, D-Von Dudley debuted and later began attacking members of the stable, chastising them for becoming a joke.

D-Von feuded with Buh Buh Ray before the latter turned heel to form The Dudley Boyz. The duo dominated the ECW tag division for the next few years before signing with the WWF in 1999.
