The Shockmaster

Fred Ottman signed with WCW in 1993 after competing as Tugboat and Typhoon in the WWF. His WCW debut did exactly not go as planned, however.

The Shockmaster debuted ahead of the War Games match at Fall Brawl. On "A Flair for the Gold," hosted by Ric Flair, The Shockmaster burst through a wall alongside pyrotechnics, but since his costume involved a Stormtrooper mask covered in glittery paint, The Shockmaster fell flat on his face in front of the live crowd. The helmet fell off, but The Shockmaster put it back on and went on with the bit, looking on menacingly at his soon-to-be opponents. An off-screen voice threatened Sid Vicious, who reacted with fits of rage after only moments before doing his best to keep himself of bursting into laughter.

The character was rebranded as a klutz, and his attire was simplified to involve plain jeans and loosely buttoned shirts. The Shockmaster scored the win for his team in the War Games match, submitting Kole (Booker T) with a bear hug.
