Decor Reimagined - A Reimagination Series Mod

Reimagines decor, rewarding consistent and sensible decor instead of spamming identical decor items in one location. Similarly, bases which allow ugly items to pile up within sight will face stiff consequences.



New Mechanics
  • Duplicants will only perceive each type of decor object one time (the best material used is counted) at any given location, even if multiple copies are in view.
  • This change applies to both positive items such as Statues and Plants, and negative items such as Debris (counted by debris material) and wires.
  • Duplicants perceive 50% of the ambient decor while sleeping.
  • High decor Morale requires a slightly lower average decor score to achieve, but large negative decor scores will incur a Morale penalty up to -5!
  • Additional Colony Initiatives have been added.
  • Now compatible with Block Decor Effects Behind Walls.

Tweaks
  • Decor values for some buildings and clothing have been tweaked. Notably, Atmo Suits have negative decor, and the Monument and Marble Statue decor have been increased.
  • Disabled or entombed decor buildings will not increase decor, and broken buildings and ugly criers have very bad decor scores.
  • Great Halls and Recreation Rooms no longer accept disabled, broken, or entombed buildings.
  • Parks and Nature Reserves require growing plants.

Options

No Critter Decor - Controls whether all critters have decor at all.
  • Disabled (default) - Critters have normal decor.
  • Enabled - All critters have zero decor. This choice makes decor a little harder, but greatly improves performance of gigantic critter farms like shine bug reactors.

Hard Mode - Makes decor much harder.
  • Disabled (default) - Negative decor items are only counted for each unique type of item.
  • Enabled - Negative decor items are all counted individually.

Preserve Tile Decor - Allows other mods to override Decor Reimagined's tweaks to tile decor values.
  • Disabled (default) - Decor Reimagined will control tile decor values.
  • Enabled - Decor Reimagined will not modify tile decor values, to improve compatibility with mods such as Rebalanced Tiles.

I just figured out there's a bug where the Decor Reimagined mod doesn't register positive decor from Sticker Bombs. Since the positive decor is the entire point of Sticker Bombs, I recommend fixing this bug.

I also noticed the mod prevents drywall from providing positive decor, but I'm actually okay with that (though it should be described in mod page, or maybe made an option for hard mode). I also play with the "drywall hides wires" mod, so I find value in drywall without it providing positive decor. But the sticker bombs should definitely be fixed.

imo a grace period for the negative decor morale would be good! either a certain amount of cycles or expectations! atm the mod makes stress kind of an issue when youre still worrying about securing your colony's safety rather than decor

If you're using this with the Fast Track mod, make sure to disable "Fast Reachability Checks". It prevents tiles from contributing to decor with this mod installed.

After some tests, the parameters "DebrisDecor" and "DebrisRadius" in the config.json file don't work for me. The idea is amazing because, with high enough decors radius malus and size of debris, we'll be forced to clean the base, adding complexity to debris management. If you have the time to check it, it would be amazing!

Decor from Snazzy Suit and Primo Garb seem to stick to dupe even after they take them off.

This mod will change the requirements for the Great Hall (improved dining room +6), adds Rocket interior to the requirements. Because of this, it is not possible to get the best dining room.

I'm still using this mod. It works fine aside the fact that drywalls don't hide wires but I use the Backwalls mod, they have a +10 decor bonus so they're still useful at mitigating the decor malus of wires while not completely negating it. If you don't set this mod to hard mode it's still usable.
