Fields of War

HEYYY! before you download this, History lesson very quick.

Between me and you, this is a not a historic map, kind of setting, but mostly a representation of what both fronts were combined, with trench warfare and open spaces for maneuvers and flanking.

In WW1 around 37 million people died, which is pretty dark if you come to think of it... And then a century later some edgy kid made a map of one of the biggest tragedies of the world! but that out of the way.. the beginning of the XX century was marked by this event. many kingdoms, like the kingdom of prussia, the russian empire, the United Kingdom and the Astro-Hungarian Empire, were involved in this war. with Astro-Hungaria starting the war by declaring war on Serbia, which was responsable for the death of archiduke France Ferninand, who was killed in cold blood, when doing a visit. after the war had lost it's grip, the western front (especially the french army) started to build trenches along the maginot line, in an effort to stop the Prussian advance, which they responded by building their own, to not loose gained ground. this became a serious stalemate, where diseases spreaded like wild fire and it was most likely to die of a cold than for a bullet itself, under this conditions, the soldiers also had to endure heavy enemy shelling, howling blasts of machinegun fire, flamethrowers, and overall the anxiety of knowing that the enemy lives in another trench just 40-60 meters away from you... and the worst of all, is that you couldn't even get sleep! in the night, small skirmishes and raids were done by both sides, using clubs and knifes to stealthly kill everyone and take over the line.

If this wasn't the worst, the worst fears of humanity would not show by the end of a knife, or hot lead bullets... no, no, no... it would come in a worse state.. Chemical Warfare, Mustard Gas and Chlorine gas, were used by both sides. gasses which had the hability to go through skin and rip your lungs into ashes, affecting your whole body, leaving you to die in a slow and painful death. and those who survived, got serious burns to the lungs or to exposed skin, like corporal Hitler who survived an attack of mustard gas, went to the hospital and almost lost his sight.

Anyway, you get the picture pretty gore and awful...

This map took heavy inspiration from various songs of Sabaton, but mostly, I was inpirated from Verdun and Tannenberg...

This is still a Work in Progress, and criticism is allowed (obviously), any feedback, or ideas, bugs you may find, or issues with the map, i'll try to solve as fast as I can!
