For Besiege v0.86, Spiderling added a tutorial that shows you how to build a basic airplane! The tutorial walks you through a build, step by step, until you end up with their example airplane. I noticed some room for improvement in the plane's design, so I made some changes, and tweaked it for optimum balance and control.

I hope the devs will implement my changes to the sample plane's design.

*** UPDATE! ***

I finished this plane and video as quickly as possible to get my starter plane suggestions out. But now that I've had more time for test flights, I found some improvements.

  • For quicker steering, I used multiple key mapping to make the rear flaps perform both pitch and roll.

  • Since the plane loses altitude while steering, I've found that some nose up attitude helps to compensate for that. So I reduced the rotation of the rear flaps from 7° to 5°.

  • For a finishing touch, I added an engine shutoff. Press zero when idling. This reverses one of the wheels to compensate for the spinning block.

Flying it was really easy. It isn't the fastest or most maneuverable. But what it does it does perfect. Its the type of plane you could fly without your left brain its so easy. I'm hoping to see a 1vs1 or 2vs2 set up with these and guns. Would make a fun mini game with a friend.

some of the thing i see you pointed in the vid could be learned in time but the crontrol change may be good to just have the help guide have in as a tip maybe
