A34 Comet - Budget Grade

In 1943 the cromwell's usefulness was pushing its limits, and a larger gun was required deal with Germany's new Panther and Tiger tanks... The cromwell was not capable of using a larger gun and the Centurion under development wouldn't be ready until 1945. Meaning a separate vehicle was needed to act as a stopgap until then. The stopgap needed a more powerful gun than the cromwell, but still needed to be cheap and easy to produce.

Design of a new vehicle started in May 1943. The Comet, based mostly on the cromwell, had a hull that was very similar to the previous design... Deliberately... The tank designers made the decision in order to keep complications in production to a minimum when it would be time to introduce the vehicle, this unfortunately meant that the superior sloped armor used by most other tanks showing up at the time would not be present on the Comet.

The main differences though were with the increased turret ring size of 64 inches (162.9cm) to accommodate the newly designed turret. In comparison to the Cromwell, the Comet's turret actually had some armor (102mm) and could fit the 77mm HV gun, a variant of the 17pdr which had poorer penetration but significantly better accuracy. During trials it was found that rocks and dirt could get wedged into the gaps behind the gun mantlet and prevent the weapon from aiming upwards. This was fixed mostly by adding a canvas cover over mantlet.

Some Comets remained in service up until 1995 outside of Britain.

The Budget Comet is a machine built for multiverse. Its 167 blocks total allowing multiple people to be using It or other budget tanks that are balanced between each-other for combat. The Comet features a decently strong turret with very good gun depression of 12 degrees. Its best strength is being able to quickly reposition, making it easier to take out opponents even with its weak gun.

This vehicle was built by Oltsu and passed on to me for minor tweaks and uploading.

Mobility is meant to mimic the Comet in world of tanks~
