Amtrak AEM-7

The EMD AEM-7 is a electric train engine used by Amtrak and some other railway companys in the noth east of the US. With this train, Amtrak wantet to replace the Budd Metroliner EMU and the PRR GG1 with new trains, but no US manufacture offered an elevtric passenger lokomotive. So Amtrak decidet to import trains from Europe: The Rc4 from Sweden and the CC 21000 from France. Amtrak then decided for the Rc4. The elcectric and machine parts of that train were imported from Sweden, the bodies were produced by Budd and EMD mounted the train itself, making the train what it is today.

mtrak started to replace all AEM-7s, AEM-7ACs and also the HHP-8s with the new ACS-64 by Simens in 2014.
