Penn Central F7A

Penn Central was a railroad that operated from 1968 to 1976. It was created by a merger of the Pennsylvania and New York Central Railroads. Curiously a third railroad joined the merger in 1969. This was the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad.

Unfortunately the railroad was plagued with financial trouble through it's eight-year life. In 1970 the company filed for bankcruptcy. At the time it was the largest bankcruptcy in US history. I suggest you consult Penn Central's Wikipedia article for further information.

More recently - in around 2010 - Norfolk Southern repainted EMD SD70ACe No. 1073 in the PC black as a heritage unit.
