The United Earth Colonies (UEC) tendered bids for a orbital single stage decent/ascent vehicle capable of bringing astronauts to the surface of a terrestrial body while being able to transport a rover and carrying capacity.

-The vehicle had to be compact enough to be fit into the Argonaut Launch Vehicle
-Provide lift and delivery capability for a rover not to exceed 6000 kg
-Crew Capacity of up to 4
-Single stage decent/ascent to deliver astronauts to the surface of a planetary body with a gravity field up upto 1.1
-Provide replenishment capabilities for Astronauts operating on the surface
-Self Refuel capabilities
-Be Rechargeable

To expedite competition and reduce cost, Northrop Grumman dug out its old schematics for the original Apollo Lunar Module and began rapid plans to implement new technologies in a updated version. The result was the Lunar Lander Mk 6. The cost of this vehicle was significantly lower than the other competing bids and successfully won the tender to manufacture an initial order of 12 landers for the UEC.

Due to the restrictive nature of the contract, several key features of the original LM were removed including a pressurized cabin replaced with a single cryochamber for rest and replenishment and survival station.
However, the crew capacity was increased from 2 to 4. The new Lander was capable of decent and ascent back to the CSM and did manage to fit within the confines of the JLB Module of the new Argonaut Launch Vehicle. The Lander was also able to land and recover a reuseable rover back to orbit plus provided basic manufacturing capabilities.
