Gus Then was scouted and joined American wrestling companies, he had a succesful carrer wrestling in both USA and Canada, he won 2 titles The Pacific Coast Junior Heavyweight belt and the Middleweight belt beating Gus Kallio.

Gus Johnson was known for his Shoulder drop in wrestling, in a total he wrestled in over 1'000 matches.
