@Noon: The ED_Alloc is usually an indication of not enough memory available. For a mapper that's if the designed map has too many objects - in that case it cannot be compiled. For a player it's by chance a memory issue on the PC - but no idea why yours and your friends happen to be the same.

My friend and i have the same bug "ED_Alloc: no free edicts", It happens in the room with the lasers activated stairs (4:55 in your video). We tried to make it work with a laser from a portal instead of the one activated with the ball, and the 2 cubes, and every time we tried, it crashed. Hope that helps. Anyway it isn't the good way to solve it.

Haha I think my friends and I have probably played most of those 82 maps already ;) . Thanks for the help anyway, I guess I just have to hope I don't have this problem again!

@The_Cheezburglr: Sorry, i am not able to give you a good recommendation since you are the first having problems with this map. My maps do not require any mod to be installed. Btw: I have 12 GByte RAM on W7 - works all smooth and nice. But hey, there are currently 82 maps of mine out there; you should be able to find some other nice stuff inbetween ;-)

Thanks for the quick response. I have 12GB RAM and - to my knowledge - it should all be fine. I found some forum posts also mentioning the number of entities thing, but the map didn't seem to have that many objects compared to others I've played. I've never installed a mod for Portal, do you think it might help if I did? I haven't had this problem with any of your other maps

@The_Cheezburglr: That error message appears if a map has more elements than permitted by Portal / Source7. Since this map here had been fine for so many players except you, I have to assume it’s something at your end. Does your PC have a very low amount of memory or a memory issue? Are you really loading this map here?

Hey, my Portal keeps crashing on this map, with the error "ED_Alloc: no free edicts" - any idea whether this is a problem with the map or with my client? Tried re-installing Portal and that didn't help
