Original ship concept brought to you by Black Tech Research & Development, a division of ECG Engineering. This ship is compatible with vanilla first-person-only 1x realism survival mode. No mods required.

With the rise of the Turanic Kingdoms in the Outer Rim and the Dust Wars in the Galactic Core, many outposts throughout the Great Wastelands faced significant shortages of Uranium, a key resource for keeping their nuclear reactors fueled. In an attempt to create a more cost-effective solution and to reduce fuel requirements, BTR&D took the Hawkmoth back to the drawing board to see if its powerplant could be replaced with a comparable alternative.

The result of this work was the Hawkmoth Mk II, which saw a number of improvements to previous designs, but was met with mixed reactions by many veteran Hawkmoth pilots. New features included an autopilot system for long-range navigation as well a fix to a vulnerability in the gyroscope systems of older models. However, the most notable feature was its new powerplant, which was a interconnected series of rechargeable tritium isomer battery cells. While this new powerplant was able to meet the power requirements of the strike craft and was incredibly cheap to produce, it was twice as heavy and almost 3 times bulkier.

The result was a strike craft that had a slower overall acceleration rate than its predecessors, and while the operational range is still quite long at over 17,000 km, it still doesn't compare to the Mk Ib's near infinite range using nuclear reactors. Despite the reduction in performance, many outposts were able to produce much larger quantities of the Mk II than the previous Mk Ib, all the while saving valuable Uranium for other applications.
