The Falcon 1 was an expendable launch system privately developed and manufactured by SpaceX during 2006–2009. On 28 September 2008, Falcon 1 became the first privately-developed liquid-fuel launch vehicle to orbit the Earth.

The two-stage-to-orbit rocket used LOX/RP-1 for both stages, the first powered by a single Merlin engine and the second powered by a single Kestrel engine. It was designed by SpaceX from the ground up.

It launched five times - it achieved orbit on the fourth launch.

There were plans to use a parachute to recover the first stage - this wasn't performed successfully before its retirement.

1x scale. Transporter/erector isn't really to scale (or particularly accurate to the original) for block connection reasons.

The Block 2 has new Merlin engines, built using lessons learned since the Block 1 was released. The thrust vectoring system now uses steering hinges (instead of floppy piston actuators) and the engine itself now uses half-pipes and flamethrowers (a technique developed on the upcoming Vulcan launch vehicle). The fairing has also been replaced with one developed from the Starship mk.1 nosecone, which is much lighter and has much more available volume.

And, of course, all of the tedious stuff (such as engine ignition, fairing separation, and payload deployment) has been automated.
