Garrett is son of Country music singer Kris Kristofferson, this would provide him with a storyline being a fan at a Country music festival and being scouted by there manager Sylvester Lefort in NXT.

Garrett would leave NXT / FCW in 2014, joining various companies though he would win titles in APW and OPW.
