This scenario follows the events of "Frozen Seas 2022". If you haven't had a chance to play that scenario yet, consider playing it before this one for more context on the conflict.
The battles and skirmishes between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in the mid-twentieth century determined the geopolitical landscape of the world in the 21st century. With a radioactive moonscape serving as a sort of no-mans-land in Europe, the great frictional divide between east and west migrated from the Fulda Gap to the Mediterranean. After coups, civil and general wars, and colossal bloodshed, the Soviet Union secured all of Turkey and many of the islands in the Aegean. The Soviets fortified and reinforced their forces in the Med by funneling weapons and ships to Turkey, while NATO used Italy as its headquarters for operations here. Being stuck in the middle, Greece suffered greatly through blockades and sanctions from the Soviets and pressure to militarize from NATO. Fearful of an invasion, or worse, missile attack, Greece decided to bide its time and remain neutral until an opportunity could present itself.
After the joint British and American attack in the northern Atlantic sea, NATO is ready to launch a second strike against the Union, this time in the Mediterranean and the Aegean, aimed at destroying a part of the gargantuan Soviet fleet stationed there and finally breaking the chains that have shackled Greece for the past fifty years.
The US Sixth fleet is one of the most powerful and technologically advanced fighting forces in the American military, sporting top-of-the-line ships, aircraft, and crews; they will need every edge they have to engage the enemy in a battle the size of which is akin to the great naval conflicts of the world wars...
