Shawmut - Boston Before 1630

描述
This is an attempt to make an accurate portrayal of the coastlines of Boston around the arrival of European settlers in the 17th century. The map was made using various sources of historical maps that can be found online. A map with modern coastlines from the Steam Workshop was used as a base for the general topography of the area. Then, the coastlines were altered to achieve the look you see in the images above.

History
The Shawmut Peninsula was the name derived from the local Native Americans for the area we know today as downtown Boston. The only access by land to Boston at this time was through a narrow isthmus known as the "Boston Neck." On the peninsula were three distinct mounds, including Beacon Hill that would later be significantly reduced in height. The coastline of the peninsula would also drastically change throughout the 1800's through land reclamation in an effort to accommodate the ever growing city of Boston.

Details
This map has two outside road connections: Interstate 90 (aka the Mass Turnpike) and Interstate 93. Boat, rail, and airplane connections are there too.

I strongly encourage to use Unlock All 25 Tiles or 81 Tiles mods for this map.

**Important** If you plan to play on this map, you will need Mass Transit DLC and Unlimited Trees Mod. Otherwise, you will have to edit the map yourself. However, I will make a vanilla version upon request.

TFW when you're reading the description, happy and excited to start, and then you read that I-95 is the Mass Pike. Um, no.

I live in the Boston area, so this should be a fun map to work on. I knew that a lot of downtown was reclaimed land, but it's interesting to see and work with the original state of things. This present a different set of city-building challenges. Unless, of course, I want to put the Pru in the middle of the harbor. LOL! Thanks! And yes, as Fetch pointed out (and you may know), the Mass Pike is I-90 and goes west/east from New York state to Boston.

I-90 is the Mass Pike, and goes east-west. I-95 goes north-south.

Hi. Love the idea of this map, could you make a European Themed total Vanilla version with no DLC? I think it would do very well indeed! Should be on BonBonB's YT channel, give it a boost!

This is an amazing concept. Can we please get more famous locations before they were urbanized?
