Following the Japanese landing on the Dokdo Islands, tensions increased heavily. Both nations have ramped up their military exercises and sent additional ships to sea. The United States has been sailing ships through the Sea of Japan in hopes of reducing tensions, but has officially remained neutral in the conflict.
