This seems to work fine in 2.6.*




Changes the open/close border rules between playable empires.

Ever find yourself unable to kill that leviathan because of closed borders? Can't get access to that warzone because your neighbour is 'Wary' of you no matter how many gifts you give them?

This mod should relieve most of the frustration, by keeping borders open between playable empires except under two situations:

1. Rivalry - Empire A rivals Empire B. Empire A's borders are automatically closed. Empire B has a choice.

2. Genocidal Civics (machine terminator, swarm, etc) - Genocidal empire's borders are automatically closed, as per normal. Non-genocidal empires have a choice to close their borders to genocidal empires.



Notes:

1. Unfortunately this is not retroactive. Save games with closed borders will not magically be opened. But give them some gifts and once they open their borders they can't close them again except through the above mechanics.

2. Updated to give the ability of rivalled empires to close their borders in response.

3. Initial policy governing Opened/Closed Borders on First Contact has been changed.

4. This should be highly compatible with other mods. If not let me know.

5. Am thinking of including a nerf to the relations boost through favourable trade deals. I have always felt that it was too easy to "buy friends". But with the need to buy access under the old border rules, it seemed needed. Let me know your thoughts in comments below.

this mod is an excellent idea, and should be the standard for the base game. Could you please update it for 2.5 (shortly 2.6)? :D
