Haven't seen this idea used before, but probably because it's so hard to pull off for the normal player.

Yeahhh it's pretty bad and very hard to execute but I figured since you put "experienced players only" there was the smallest chance mayyybe it was intended, though I've seen a couple of your other maps before and I felt you weren't really the kind of mapmaker to force such maneuvers on your test subjects. And it turned out you weren't :P

I discovered this on my own one day (a long time ago), just toying around, I thought too that pressing inwards wouldn't be enough to overcome the push closing a portal gives you but was surprised when, if you time it just right, it's actually possible and fairly easy once you get used to it. One of Gig's old maps relied on this move as well.

@zigzagtenniscoe well I'll be damned, I've never seen that particular exploit before, in like, any Portal 2 map. I figured doing that would just push you out of the portal xD
Thanks for playing my map, and for the video. Always a delight to see blind runs :p2cube:

Blindrun of the ninja solution
Yep, did it the cringe way the first time. It was only when I went back to quat’s remake (which I played just before recording this blindrun) after having an epiphany that I realized I was making it much harder on myself than it needed to be. The intended manner is a lot more fun.

I didn’t record a run of the intended way because I thought it’d be rather obvious, and while the second part is basically the same as quat’s the first part was quite fun to figure out. Unfortunately I don’t have footage of me going through those motions, but oh well.

As I said in my comment on quat’s this really isn’t that difficult to execute for me, I mess up a couple times but overall even though this is a slightly cheesy mechanic and many people who can see/execute this will also see the ninja way to do it, this is actually quite fun.

Difficulty: 4.5/10
Enjoyed: 7.75/10

Clever move, but tedious to execute, and very frustrating to mess up.

@sparklecharmer that is so flattering to hear! Thanks for playing. Very glad you enjoy my No Elements maps so much :p2cube:

you're responsible for making two of my favourite maps of all time, this and connection. it's so satisfying to finally piece everything together, and replaying is enjoyable just because of the way it all unfolds!

Great chamber though I did get a hint from Libby's post. He may be right about the height, but 2 would make it more obvious. I don't know what the purpose of the stairs and the portable surface above is other than to distract from the solution.

I agree with Libbybapa; I didn't find it that hard. Still, fun map. Thumbs up.

The concept was pretty clear and straightforward to me. My only gripe is the stairs at the far area are only 1 block. It seems you could make that height difference 2 squares and save a LOT of repeats of the exact same move.
