Hi all,
I've been working (quite hard) on this map for over a year and now it's finally complete! Initially created with a USGS heightmap of Cincinnati, Ohio, the roads/railroads are roughly based on the modern city. I have placed all trees and water works by hand, and worked over the entire terrain by hand to ensure quality play. I gave a lot of thought regarding gameplay when creating this map, and I highly recommend checking out the awesome downtown riverfront areas on Google Maps 3D for some authentic city designing inspiration!

I thought a Rust Belt city (defined by decaying and largely abandoned industrial areas throughout the Northeastern U.S.) would play nicely in this game, and I also have visited this city all my life so I feel quite confident that this map can and will give a realistic and authentic vibe to your next city!

Some From-Memory Cinci History:
The downtown region was carved by giant glaciers hundereds of thousands of years ago and is now nestled into the western edge of the half-billion year old Appalacian mountain range. I personally grew up in this general geographic region, so many little things are from personal experience- from the way I sculpted the hills to the sun's trajectory and the likelyhood of rain in the map theme. The city of Cincinnati itself has a very industrial background, however it's now shifting its main attraction to tourism and culture due to its relatively recent induction into the Rust Belt of America.
