描述
Welcome to Palo Santo, where the sun always shines, the wind smells like the ocean, the days are warm and the nights are cool, and the Recreational Use policy is always active!

This map bears a striking resemblance to Los Angeles (but an alternate reality one where I try to make sure the traffic isn't terrible), but I also drew a bit of inspiration from Salt Lake City, Utah (it inspired the lake.) as well. The main playing area is levelled to be perfectly flat, perfect for the sprawling suburbs of your wildest fantasies.

I've wanted to do a California-themed city for a while, since I'm from Canada and it's still cold here and I've been dreaming of warmer weather, and I was actually happy enough with this map that I decided to publish it on the Workshop. The name is a type of wood that's usually burned as incense which I have around my house pretty much all the time. It's very calming to me and smells amazing, and it seemed like the perfect name for the theme I'm going for.

DISCLAIMERS:

-I definitely didn't have computer performance in mind. I think there's something like 160K trees on this map. Sorry.

-You NEED Mass Transit for this, or you will not have a road in the starting square. If you're using the Unlock All mod, you might be fine for starting a city without roads, but I've never tested it without Mass Transit and you'll probably just get an error.

-I didn't put any large highways running through the centre of the map, mostly because I'm lazy and building highways is annoying but also because that's not how cities actually develop. That said, I went ham with train lines that I figured could mimic the way that towns in the American Midwest and the Canadian Prairies were built, but my thinking really did stop there. I put highway connections that do make it to the centre 25 tiles, but honestly, unless you're planning on just building a small town or two, I'd suggest using either the 81 Tile mod or something similar.

Other than that, I tried to keep this map relatively light on props and Workshop assets, but the ones I used are probably ones you have already. I might have forgotten one, so if I did, just let me know and I'll make sure to add it to the required items list. ***EDIT: I forgot I used custom train tracks because I hate overhead wires. Whoops.

***

tl;dr feel free to tell me what you think. I've never bothered to publish a map in the two years I've been playing this game, so I figured there was no time like the present.

Saint Stick, that's what it means in Spanish.
