Thankyou for paying attention to SAVTec's T.H.O.T
Because T.H.O.T's just love attention!

All the usual quality from SAVTec
  • 100% mod-free
  • No scripts. Build uses a complex but tested-safe rotor based 5th wheel trailer hitch and 2 very stable pistons.
  • Nice neat control panel - everything named, grouped & hidden where appropriate
  • Pre-configured hotbar for drivers cockpit (right hand drive of course!)
  • Ideal 3rd stage upgrade to your wheeled transport fleet
  • Can pull any trailer with a compatible hitch
  • Requires advanced knowledge to build in survival but it can be done!
  • Practical & fun for new players & seasoned veterans alike!

Introduction to the T6 series
The T6 is, like its designation suggests, a 6x6 transport chassis. It can be configured to any number of specifications and used either as a tractor for pulling trailers or on its own as a 6-wheeled cargo / utility truck.
The T.H.O.T variant is exactly what you'd expect.... A Tractor & Hydrogen Ordonnance Trailer (oui, le vieux mot français! Hehawhehaw!)

The list of builds that are compatible with this truck is now too long to fit in the description, so I've moved it to the discussion section on the original trucks workshop page. For the full list, please click HERE

An internet savants guide to the T.H.O.T
The T.H.O.T is a simple creature. It can be found online most of the time and loves nothing more than to please its audience and gain their attention. (UrbanDictionary 2077)
Unlike most T.H.O.T's however, the SAVTec T.H.O.T will show you its unmentionables for free!

T.H.O.T's are just gas-powered T.W.A.T's
Like any T.H.O.T worth her salt, the SAVTec T.H.O.T basically sucks up attention Hydrogen and converts it into... err... entertainment!
Unlike most internet T.H.O.T's, the SAVTec T.H.O.T wont beg for your support on Patreon or twerk on request if you throw money at it. It will however tow trailers for you. Specifically in this case, a most befitting Hydrogen tanker trailer, which you can use to refuel your ships, or just as low-cost, portable storage (especially handy for early game.)

Taking advantage of a T.H.O.T
T.H.O.T's are easy enough to take advantage of but beware... there is a price to everything! In exchange for its "services" the T.H.O.T requires oodles of attention and money Hydrogen!
Well actually not oodles - but it requires at least some.

The Survival update has small-grid Hydrogen Engines consuming roughly 1 Litre of Hydrogen per second at idle. That's a total capacity per engine of 16,000 Litres and a run-time at idle of 266 minutes or around 4.5 hours...
And there are 4 of them. Yes, 4!

The T.H.O.T: a players guide
The T.H.O.T uses its engines in pairs and for the most part will run on only 2 at a time, giving you a run time of anywhere up to 9 hours on a "full tank".

It also has its own on-board "fuel tank" (a Medium Cargo Container), which at realistic inventory settings can hold around 10 tons of ice (or a whole bunch of random household objects that you wouldn't normally think to put in it!)

The T.H.O.T also has its own Hydrogen generator, which supplies both Hydrogen to the engines and Oxygen to the cockpits when used on planets without atmosphere.

A T.H.O.T's best features
Like any good T.H.O.T, the SAVTec T.H.O.T has certain "features" that you'll just love to look at & play with.
For starters she comes well "endowed" with a detachable tanker trailer for carrying those precious loads of fuel to your spaceships.
The towing hitch pivots on all 3 axes - pitch, yaw and roll, ensuring as many wheels as possible remain on the ground at all times.
She also has...
  • A single backup reactor
  • Independant tractor & trailer batteries
  • Air intakes for use on planets with atmosphere (never suffocate when inside your T.H.O.T!)
  • O2 / H2 Generator for refuelling on the hoof
  • Medium Cargo Container on the tractor for carrying extra ice
  • Rear-facing connector on the trailer
  • Roof-mounted collector on the tractor for effortless refuelling with ice
  • Gyroscope for extra stability
  • Artificial Mass on both tractor and trailer for use in augmented low gravity
  • Remote control & cameras forward / rear
  • Handy button panels on the trailer
  • Pretty, pretty lights

Controlling a T.H.O.T
Surprisingly, it's not as futile as you might think! T.H.O.T's can indeed be controlled if you know how...
  • The buttons underneath the trailer extend & retract the parking legs
  • Buttons on the sides of the trailer toggle Stockpile on / off for the individual Hydrogen Tanks
  • Button on the back of the tractor will lock the hitch & detach the trailer (deploy parking legs first)
  • Hotbar #1 controls main tractor systems
  • Hotbar #2 controls main trailer systems

You will of course need to get on a T.H.O.T's good side before you can control her. Driving is done from the correct side of the vehicle as always... passengers sit on the left!

Important note
Always lock the hitch rotors and deploy the parking legs before detaching the trailer.
Without the parking legs down, the trailer may topple forward (recoverable by simply extending the legs).
If the hitch rotors are not locked, the hitch will drop down & you'll need to fart around with the rotors to set it straight so you can hitch up again.
  • Parking legs are operated either by the button on the trailer or with hotkey #8 on hotbar #1
  • Hitch rotors are locked with hotkey #7 on hotbar #1; or automatically when you press the button on the back of the tractor.

Things to do with a T.H.O.T when you're bored
Try increasing the max velocity for all the wheels & take her roughly on the moon. She has a built in gyroscope & is willing to do some incredible "stunts" for you if you hit the donate button jumps just right.
With all 12 off, use the pitch & roll keys to do somersaults and barrel rolls (yes, this works even with the trailer attached!)

Feedback
Comments / questions / suggestions / constructive criticism all very welcome.
I've even been known to do the odd request-build from time to time, so if you have an idea, drop me a line. If I like it I may build it.

@Ainori... You're welcome. Hope you enjoy!

@Major Spray... Sorry, I only just saw your comment there.
Yes, the hitch is actually 3 separate grids. You have to paste the whole thing into a creative world, then detach all the pieces & save them as BP's.
Then in Survival, you build each piece separately from the truck & use another vehicle to move them into place & attach them. They cannot be built in place using a projector.
It IS possible to build in Survival - I've done it many times. You just need to get imaginative to find solutions to the barriers the game throws up.

thx =)

I am more confused as how to get the entire Hitch system to work properly because just detaching them and saving them doesnt work because the hitch piece apparently is considered another grid

I actually never noticed the different spelling of "Ordonnance" or the ENTIRE French line after it...

@CapnKitten... Projectors can't project mutliple subgrids as you found out.
Also - don't try to connect it all together with merge blocks or it'll explode. The hitch uses a double rotor for the tilt mechanism. It will cause you untold problems if you try to merge the various grids.
Instead, you need to detach the rotors & build it in 2 pieces.

Basically like @morganpaul22 says - paste it into a creative world, enter the control panel and select "Detatch" on the 2 rotors named "Hitch Tilt Rotor".
You can then move the tractor & trailer apart and blueprint them each separately.
When you come to build it in Survival mode you'll need to build each blueprint on its own, then move them into position so the detached rotors line up and hit "Attach" in the control panel.

@CapnKitten One thing you could try is to just first paste it into your world while using creative mode. (ATL + F10) admin tools click creative mode then paste it. then you can separate the trailer and truck and create your own separate blue prints for each. Just an idea.

I don't get how to build this... There are several subgrids, and when I try to make it straight from the projector it just gives me the trailer. I am trying to merge block it all into one grid in creative to attach the rotors and grind the support in survival, but there is a tight squeeze that I can't really think how to do. It might just take some work to get the swiveling hitch merged up, but it would be nice if your builds came with support material to grind away after building. Any advice on how to get this thing in survival? I don't know how others are building it.

Nice! Thanks for that. Much appreciated!

I just built it in my new survival game too. It's getting its first proper field testing with me at the same time as you.
Haven't found much Ice so far & have only just finished building a Hydrogen tank to refuel it from, so been relying on batteries & solar up til now (nice & sunny where I'm based).
The batteries seem to have enough power for about 8-10Km out & back (with varying input from solar) before output starts pinking.
Initial tests of the engine is giving me some conflicting results though. First trip out with a full tank & no ice, I clocked 1Litre per second consumption but the tank was empty within 2 minutes. The Hydrogen seemed to suddenly go missing. One second I had loads & consumption was normal, then it's like the game just deleted it all.
