Battle of La Drang Valley -1965

This mission was designed to recreate the real life events of the Battle of la Drang Valley in 1965.

I have attempted to depict the battle using as close to the real units/vehicles of the battle.

The United States start with a higher resource count, which will allow them to quickly deploy troops via UH-1H hueys on each landing zone. Just like the real battle, the 7th Cavalry division were unable to mobilise all their troops in one go, from having witnessed combat using transport helicopters for the first time.

As with the real historical event, the US 7th Cavalry division were outnumbered by at least 10:1 against NVA forces. It is important that the US Commander use all their available tools at their disposal.

The NVA have the advantage that they already know the terrain and have already set up base on the Chu Pong Massif (mountain).

Both sides have access to artillery, although the NVA possess more firepower as they have been able to deploy large artillery guns on the mountain.

The landing zones are contested and neither side occupy them at the start.

Win Conditions for US Army: Control and hold of the more flags than the NVA (1 Hour Timeframe).

Win Conditions for NVA: Control and hold of the more flags than the US Army (1 Hour Timeframe); Reduce the US Army tickets to 0.
