I disagree Carl. Optional commas usually clarify more often than not. For example,

"Let's Eat Grandpa."
"Let's eat, Grandpa."

Fortunately, you can't "sorry" Charlie as a verb, so it isn't a problem here, but it doesn't hurt to add it as long as it's done properly.

Dare I ask what you think of the Oxford comma?

It was correct before and it still is u just made it mean something different.

People fluent in English tend to overuse commas in sentences. Try not to fall for the trap of always using them when they optionally could exist there as the implications can change.

Waxwell's original statement was correct as well as your revision of it. However, they have different emphasis points which implies different meanings.

The original puts effort into making the focus on Charlie by not pausing which implies that she was the focus of his thoughts and not the memory.
Your revision makes Waxwell's line seem more reflective; he recalls a memory for which he is sorry but then adds Charlie as the second focus or an after thought.

Despite both being written in the same word order, the comma exchanges the implied focus around.
