Yeah, there really is a set piece problem in this years FM.

We have been talking about it for months and we were really close on nailing it ourselves but we have had to go look at what other people were doing.

A file was passed to me by a community member which he seems to have gotten hold of from a Korean FM player possibly known as 'ddong6974' which had reportedly been responsible for Huddersfield scoring 150 goals and a quadruple in one test season and I have no reason to doubt that. So thanks to 'Community Member' and to the creator who I am unable to confirm is 'ddong6974' but Its a bit hard to contact people and confirm these things when I cant speak Korean!

I played with it a bit and could see that there was not much wrong with the Set Pieces but I didnt like the way the system was set up. So based on the original work I came up with my own formation designed to get the most out of set pieces as much as possible.

I tested this version with 3 Teams. Fulham, Bournmouth, Burnley. All finished in Champions League positions in Season One. Did the Double with Bournemouth (League and FA Cups)


Standard 4-4-2 with a TM, Wingers and designed to get the ball wide as much as possible and hold it to try and win a throw/corner to take advantage of the bugs as much as possible.

Throw

In short, the Throws abuse the Match Engine's lack of reaction to a Long Throw not being taken long, leaving 3 unmarked players to approach the goal and do pretty much whatever they want.

Corner

Corners are the one we were SO CLOSE to nailing all the way back in November with the Scott 'McTomarty' phenomenon for our Hamburg save where he got 15 goals all from the edge of the box and all from a short corner leaving him totally unmarked 18 yards out.

All other set pieces are set to the best I know of some taken from the 'ddong6974' original file I was passed as you know how much trouble I have defending Set Pieces in general as the ME doesn't act like it should compared to real life.

Some Tips.

Opposite foot for the players receiving the short corner will help but it turns out is not essential as I thought on stream.

Corner takers should be the Opposite Flank Winger. Corner stat not important at all.

LB and RB for throw-in takers on there respective flanks. Throw stat not important.

Holiday Tests. Quadruple with Man United. Champions League Finishes with Bournemouth, Burnley (2nd Season) and Fulham.

9.92 Average Rating in the Champions League from Romelu Lukaku (damn)

Summary.

Not much else to say other than expect a lot of goals and lots of games where the ME TRIES to unbreak itself.
