Procedurally Generated Ore

描述
This mod replaces the ore spawning maps for all of the vanilla planets (now including Pertam and Triton). Ore are less frequent and typically occur in larger veins of only one ore. The asteroid ore spawning restrictions of Scarce Resources also applies in this mod. The planet spawns are similar. See the table below for ore spawns for each planet. Credit for the asteroid and surface rock spawning change goes to the creators of Scarce Resources. The images show colour coded (red=iron, blue=cobalt, white=silicone etc) ore vein spawns and the vanilla ore spawn map for reference. Note that ores will no longer spawn under ice lakes.

This will lead to a much more difficult resource mining loop. You will no longer have everything you need within 800m of wherever you start on a planet. Scouting will also play an important role. You will have to spend some time finding the ore veins you need then figuring out how you'll get them back to your base etc. Early game will likely depend more on surface rocks and the survival stone to ingot recipe. It will be difficult or impossible to start anywhere but Earthlike.

I found I had to weigh up whether to thoroughly scout the current planet for the rare ore I need or go to another planet where it is more plentiful.

The table below shows the occurrence of each ore on each planet. One unit here represents a 45x45 square meter patch on the EarthLike planet.

Ore spawn depths:
Iron: 12m
Nickel: 16m
Silicon: 18m
Cobalt: 30m
Silver: 40m
Magnesium: 32m
Gold: 55m
Uraninite: 70m
Platinum: 120m

Note that errors complaining of missing ".dds" resources are expected because of a bug in Space Engineers: https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/missing-sky-textures

It can be legitimately difficult to find ore veins sometimes. You can easily get unlucky searching for them. Please check thoroughly before reporting that there are no ores. If you still have no luck, there could be a conflict with another mod you are using so please test with a reduced set of mods. Any mod which adds or modifies ore locations/distributions will likely conflict with this mod.

This mod was produced by a highly configurable ore spawning program I wrote in Java. It's reasonably easy to use if you'd like to make your own generated ore mod. Details of it can be found in the "Procedural Ore Generator Release" discussion thread on this mod. This could be useful of you want to combine the ore changes from another mod with this one.

Adding A Modded Ore?

Yeah, I had no idea what to do with Triron and Pertam so largely copied the config for Earthlike. Magnesium on Triton seems like a good idea. I look forward to having more ores to spread around in SE2!

I concur with your characterisation of Pertam. Getting stuff from PvE seems reasonable. Maybe adding a wee bit of gold very deep down might present enough of a challenge while still allowing progression without PvE.

Yeah, that's a problem SR doesn't quite know how to solve, either.
The progression was complete, all good to go. Earthlike to start with and for Cobalt, asteroids for Silver and medical components, the Moon for Gold and jump drives, Mars for Platinum and Ion Thrusters, and Alien for Uranium for Reactors.
...And then more planets got added.
Triton is in a weird place. It doesn't have much going for it, and there wasn't anything obvious to put on it for progression, so we took the majority of Magnesium from Earthlike and shoved it on Triton, but it's not quite enough.
Pertam is somewhat similar to Earthlike in terms of resources, but it of course doesn't have its own moon, so that part of the progression is different.

I do like to think of Pertam as a 'Mad Max'-style of planet, so lootin' and shootin' being the name of the game is pretty neat, but I'm not sure vanilla is up to it. Maybe it is, now, with the new planetary encounters?

@The Condor
Yeah, its probably just the snow for ice on Mars. The no ores under snow is probably a result of the no ores under ice lakes logic in the generator. That wasn't intentional but updating the mod would move the ores around for everyone now sadly!

@Schlachi
That's a good point. The mod was originally copying the design of the Scarce Resources mod where progression was intended to be EarthLike->Moon->Mars etc. Pertam is a popular starting option now though. Might have to depend on scavenged gold for now.
Schlachi 12 月 5 日 上午 2:48
I am considering where to start. But I think Pertam, Triton would be not doable because of missing gold for jump drives and no Moon existing with one?
The Condor 11 月 7 日 下午 1:43
I can't seem to find Ice deposits on mars, is there only the snow for ice on mars with this mod? Also seems like there are no ores under the snow on mars, is that disabled like the ore under the ice lakes on earth?

@NerdyCowboy
No worries, glad you're enjoying it :)

@ArmedBOB
Nah, you don't need to respawn. Any ore veins you had already found in vanilla will now just be rock though.
ArmedBOB 10 月 13 日 下午 4:46
Do you need to respawn in a planet to get these ore spawns if you add this mod after starting a new save?
NerdyCowboy 9 月 29 日 上午 8:22
@Lemmiwinks you are the man my guy, I love this mod from you and I really appreciate you for updating it.
Lemmiwinks  [作者] 9 月 19 日 上午 8:07
I updated the mod with the latest data files. Also included Pertam and Triton but I'm not sure how balanced the ore distributions for them are.

@NerdyCowbow
Hopefully the bushes/seeds will work properly now.

Hello there, hopefully the owner of this mod is still activally updating this mod. I found out after recently updating to the new apex survival update, it seem this mod affects spawning of seed bushes throughout the planets that spawn them[only tested on earth-like planet]. it would be awesome that when you have time if you can update it to where this mod doesn't affect seed bush spawning. i like your mod very much and would hate to have to remove this mod from my current mod list.
