So basically this overhauls the shield wall to give it better flexibility on the battlefield. And also allows the use of formation attack.

Units with the same weapon type do the same damage to make the stats of that particular unit more important. No more this axe does insane amount of damage for no reason.

Couple all these changes with the change to AP values and the way that the shield wall and shields handle armor and defense bonuses you now have a huge difference in the way in which battles operate and they usually last for me about twice the time. 10-15 minutes on a medium style of battle.

Since armor and missile block chances have been altered significantly there was a change to the way missile units operate.
Javelins are now extremely effective but have extremely low ammo amounts. While archers & crossbows have double the amount of available ammo. This changes the roles for each unit in turn, I highly suggest trying it out and seeing how you enjoy the differences.

Also No sitting in a defensive shield wall formation does not make one imperivious to arrows nor does it make any logical balance sense for that to be the case either.

This mod should allow the best possible balance with the most accuracy for the sake of the time period.


Yes I know the units derp out:

1) Theres no real way to fix this afaik.
2) Battles rarely operated in the fashion we wanted and it is normal for units to constantly change their mind mid battle as if they want to run away or not.
3) Janky unit animations is a known issue I have no idea what im doing when it comes to that department.

The upkeep on units has been halved to allow for larger armies.
