I made this mod to give people the option of choosing either one (link to my other mod). Their functionality is almost the same, it gives you the ablity of crafting and automating production of ration packs, the difference is in the first mod i have added a research entry and modified two building, which made it great for easy use with new and existing saves, while in this new one i only added a research and a new building, which makes it great for compatibility.

The new building is called Storage: Ingredients, and it will store dried meat and foodcubes only, with a smaller inventory. Do take note that if you ever decided to add a permanent job to fill an animal feeder or a food store, the characters will empty the storage of ingredients and they won't be able to craft with them anymore until you manually move them to the new storage.

Also note that i have no idea how the priority of storages works in kenshi, so you will likely have to fill the storage manually before production can begin again. The new storage will automatically be available by researching the ration pack recipe.

If any problems occur with this mod installed let me know and i'll see what i can do, enjoy!

V2 update: Ingredient storage has been split into Foodcube storage and Dried meat storage. Ingredient storage is still present and buildable, but only to avoid potential loss of resources for players when updating.

easier than expected, update will be out as soon as steam figures out it's safe. you should see two new items in the build menu and the old barrel should stay where it is so you can empty it safely, but it should not be buildable again once dismantled manually, hope this fixes the issue

hey, I had the same problem, the solution? edited the "stak multiply" for the container to 1000... also, removed them from the normal food storage, ppl keep stealing the food cubes instead of the ration packs from my kitchen, so i drop the food storage near the center of my base and the ingredients storage (and my kitchen) far away from the other guys

I had the same issue last time I played, honestly I'm not sure what I was thinking when I decided to put them both in the same barrel, maybe something along the lines of "it's more compact", so yeah I'll let you know when the update is ready

Can you separate Ingredients storage into one for dried meat and one for food cubes? Now they jam it with dried meat and food cubes cant go in.

something might have changed slightly in the code, I remember it being smooth in both versions, this one was only meant to not alter any vanilla building, yet I've personally had issues myself with the standard version somehow, I'll try to reupload them at some point, sometimes the code fixes itself

found a small bug with this lite version, could be a problem with my mods idk for sure.

Simply put, my cooks prioritized putting the ingredients in storage rather than taking them out to create a ration pack. I had to make them manually take ingredients and put them in the cooker and that sucked. I ended up getting the normal main mod and the problem was no more.

I love this mod, feeding my army has never been easier.

Thanks! My people live on ration packs thanks to you. The new storage gets filled seemingly at random with meat and cubes, at least when placed near normal food storages and the cooking bench. Automated crafting works perfectly still.
