Alternate Starts

Tired of starting in The Hub for the millionth time but still want to be a wanderer? Need a bit of slavery to get your day going? Maybe you've always lived on the other side of the law as a drug runner or thief.

The Alternate Starts mod is an answer to these questions and a hopefully ever expanding list of RP friendly starts for new and returning Kenshi players. Every story has a beginning, what will be yours?

Three new Wanderer starts!
No longer are you confined to The Hub if you want to have humble beginnings with no set backstory. You can now choose the Empire you're currently wandering around in and have a chance to spawn at any of their controlled cities.

Slave
Whatever the reason, you've found yourself in shackles and enslaved to either the UC or the HN. Unlike the default Rebirth start you will be alone if you choose the HN start, but still in Rebirth. However as a UC slave you will wake up in one of the many slave camps the Empire has dotted across the land.

The Thief
Maybe you've had a rough life, perhaps no life at all and poverty is all you've ever known. Whatever the reason you've honed your unscrupulous skills over your life time and ended up falling in with the Shinobi Thieves. Today is a day like any other, stealing to make ends meet and then end your day in the local Shinobi tower... but... for some reason you feel like today might be the start of something...

The Smuggler
Life in the Swamp is brutal, you know it, I know it, everyone knows it. You don't survive by "being a nice guy." You need to do what you need to do to survive, and for you, that's been a bit of thievery and running drugs for the local gangs, which, is what you're doing now. You just spent the last bit of your cats purchasing a decent cache of hashish, assuming you can keep your nose clean it's time to find a buyer.

The Mute
You can't talk. To anyone. You are a mute. How did you lose your voice? Have you always been unable to speak? Were you injured? Regardless of the reason you're completely unable to communicate with others and have been left alone, abandoned in this world scavenging and begging for the scraps that make up your life. Today is just another day... or is it?

This start is EXTREMELY HARD! You character will be unable to speak to anyone, which includes all shop keepers and companions. The only chance you have to recruit someone is by rescuing slaves or cannibal prisoner and banking on that small chance they join automatically without dialog. Until then everything in your life will be scavenged. Oh... and your start location is a completely random city.
