Commonwealth of Australia (GK and BNW)

描述
Latest Updates (Please note that updates may break savegames):
- New Unique Ability!
- Updated for Brave New World!
- Citystate names now display correctly!

The Commonwealth of Australia, led by Robert Menzies, as a playable Civilization.

Australia has access to the unique 'Digger' infantry unit. This unit replaces the Great War Infantry. Digger units are more resiliant than the unit they replace, and suffer no penalty for attacking across sea or rivers.

They also have the GoldFields, a unique building that replaces the Mint and offers increased Happiness and a boost to Population when built..

New! Boundless Plains to Share: Australia now gains happiness from settling coastal cities, and is able to produce Gold and Food from desert tiles thanks to their resilient nature.

FAQ's:
What version of Civilization V does this mod work with?
This mod works with Gods and Kings, and Brave New World. It does not require any DLC other than one or both of those expansion packs. It does not work with the basic version of Civilization V.

I have a really cool idea for a UU/UB/UA that I think you should implement!
I love suggestions. If you look at the patch history of the mod, most of the changes are from player feedback. Please don't hesitate to let me know what you like/dislike or would have done differently, I'd really like to hear it.

Why aren't indigenous Australian's/Aborigionals represented in this mod?
Down the road I'm interested in doing a mod that pays homage to the indiginous community of Australia. for this reason I chose to keep them seperate, as I feel there's enough history and material in their culture to justify a stand-alone civilization.

Why is Sydney the capital, and not Canberra?
Many civilizations in the game don't use their modern-day capital, such as Japan using Kyoto instead of Tokyo or Brasil using Rio instead of Brasilia. This is because in many cultures the modern capital simply isn't as important culturally or historically as other cities.

In Australia's case, after discussion and feedback I decided that due to the incredible historical significance of Sydney, and the international recognition, was a better choice of capital city than the arbitrarily chosen and culturally insignificant Canberra. In our history Canberra was literally built as our capital because nobody could decide between Sydney and Melbourne.

If you're not happy with it, just change the name of your capital when you start the game. I'm in Melbourne personally, so I always rename it to Melbourne myself. If you do this, it will make Sydney the name of your second city instead.

the idea that "oh sydney was the first capital, thus its fine" is kinda dumb. Plenty of civs have capitals that are not the first, but were the capital for either modern day or contemporaneously. E.g. America, Capital city is Washington, as it is today, however it was neither the contemporary capital, nor the first. Philadelphia was the first capital. Another example could be China. First capital, AND contemporary capital for Wu Zetian, was Xi'an (at the time called Chang'an). Yet the capital for the China civ in game is the modern capital of Beijing.

Robert Menzies was PM nearly two DECADES after Canberra had been built as the capital of Australia (1913). With the base game civs to go off of, you have every reason to make Canberra the capital. It was purpose built as the capital, it was the contemporary capital for the leader you chose, and its the modern day capital.

I may be biased as a Canberra boy, but I hate this damn town so only slightly.

Hey - any chance this can get updated to be multiplayer compatible? Absolutely froth this mod. All the traits of the nation are perfect and love the leader. Not a fan of Sydney being the capital but meh i can change that easy. But anyway, would love to show this mod off in a multiplayer with my mates.

An Australian person posted on the Parkes civ that he doesn't care if Sydney is given as the capital. Canberra is fairly recent in terms of history, Sydney was the first capital and plays a more important role in its history and is still the most important city there.

So the concept of an Australian civ is nice, but atleast try to be somewhat accurate atleast with the capital city... Its Canberra not Sydney

If you ever come back to this mod, would you consider doing a Woomera Spear thrower to replace slingers and archers and SASR to replace Scouts in the Modern / Information age?
