描述
A low-density random map. 12 cities. 47 industries, the minimum for one of each to show up.

Designed for SINGLE-PLAYER. You need to turn off the AI competitors when starting the map.

Starting city is your choice. These are fairly balanced. Can be completed no matter where you start.

Population growth is 0.25 normal. Consumption volumes are down to trim excess profits.

Towns need fuel and construction materials for building early in the game. Attaining 60% for growth is therefore a better logistic challenge. Long hauls are required. A clean level-ground setup is easy to achieve: look to lay long-haul track around the outside: against the water or the sides of the map.

Based on the the 1830-1930 "centennial" mode but starting in 1880. Only Gasoline and Autos are locked: till 1900.

Passenger and Mail generation rates cut by approximately half. Hint: one train on a single line can handle express traffic at the start of the game.

Innovation points have been adjusted with the intent that you purchase some techs at "auction." 4 points per month.

Look to unlock the Mastodon, a freight engine, at the end of the first month. Only 4 points are needed. First two engines don't need maintenance or service. Consumption was set to 0. All other engines need approximately half the normal maintenance.

Breakdowns have been reduced and train upkeep increased.

Freight car weights have been increased to 25. Overall gravitation was dropped to 450. Mixed engines like the Brooks Mogul shouldn't be loaded with more than a few cars of freight. Can be used as Automatic, just set preference for Passengers and Mail, then reduce maximum carriages to 5 or 6.

Uses the Automatic task option. Please be aware: there is currently no end-game rating for custom maps. Don't worry about 20/20 time score. Just do the tasks in the time provided. Was tested Trainiac 100% speed without using bonds, if you are up for that challenge.

There was a minor change: negative industry profit values were causing many Steel Mills to be built on the map when the computer was left to select those. Now they make a very tiny profit. Original intent is to discourage industry building/purchases. It may seem a crazy thing to do, but trusting the computer to fill slots on this map will add randomization.

Enjoy! Any feedback welcome.

THE BEST MAP

Thanks for the feedback. The map uses the same settings as regular centennial mode.

LocSpeedFactor = 5
and
ParamsInterfaceModeWeekly = false

or in other words, at 100% speed 1 month = about 30 seconds real time.

I wanted to make this map using the automatic tasks feature. Months ago I requested this of the devs via email, maybe other people did too? There are 12 automatic tasks with the "false" setting, compared to 10 if "true."

The speeds in mph of all trains are default. The car weight increase makes "Freight" type speeds more important. Grades matter here, there aren't many hills, but optimizing for low grades will help.

I'm not going to jump at it without testing for game balance: I wont jeopardize late-game no-stress gameplay on Trainiac without pause: there shouldn't be mountains of useless money that I'm stressing what to do with. But given that the map is low density and I am enforcing freight train usage, I may consider raising speed factor a little. Any suggestion?

Trains are too slow and the days go too fast. Average train travel duration is 64 weeks.
