August 2020
As of "The Last Stand Update," this is no longer necessary (about damn time). I'll keep this up for download to be used as a reference/comparison, but other than that you no longer need this installed to your game.

With the new EMS with the last update, Valve included two new mutations - L4D1 Co-Op and L4D1 - Versus. But they forgot a L4D1 Single Player mode. To save you guys from the trouble of having to make it yourself, I did it for you.

There is a mod that reverts the Tactical Shotgun and Hunting Rifle stats to what they were in L4D1.

Well, THIS is obsolete. You are now able to play L4D1 Coop in Singleplayer, thanks to the Last Stand update.

DIOcletian That is highly opinion based. Many of us find that Left 4 Dead 1 has a noticeable difference in feel to the gameplay; that its snappier and more satisfying. Left 4 Dead 2 feels floaty and silly and I don't get the same satisfaction from killing a zombie as I do in one.

Pies There's plenty of mods that convert a lot of things back to how they were in L4D1, so you can get pretty much the same experience if you just know where to look while keeping some of the good features like melee weapons.

To people who really want a L4D1 experience, go buy L4D1. Although it is pale in comparison to L4D2.
