The British Bulldog

Davey Boy Smith, known as The British Bulldog, was a former WWF Intercontinental Champion who also held the European Championship, the Hardcore Championship and the WWF Tag Team Titles throughout his career.

The Bulldog was a powerful wrestler with excellent technical ability, and through marriage, was part of the Hart wrestling family.

After teaming with Dynamite Kid early in his career as The British Bulldogs, Smith became a singles star in the early 90's and went on to win the IC title from Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1992 at Wembley Stadium.

After a scandal involving performance enhancing drugs, Smith was released from WWF and made his way to WCW for a short stint. When he returned to WWF in 1994, he became involved in a feud between Bret and Owen Hart.

The Bulldog nearly won the 1995 Royal Rumble after entering as 1 and 2 with Shawn Michaels and lasting the entire length of the match. Michaels was tossed to the outside, but only one foot touched the floor. HBK reentered the ring to dump The Bulldog, who had been celebrating his apparent win.

Smith went to WCW once more following The Montreal Screwjob, but injuries limited his time in WCW. He had a final run in WWF in 1999 and was involved mostly in the Hardcore Title scene until leaving in 2000.

Smith passed away in 2002. His son, Davey Boy Smith, Jr., known as David Hart Smith in WWE, became a professional wrestler like his father, and has held tag team gold in WWE and NJPW.
