One of the best wrestlers in Mixed Martial Arts history, known for his relentless takedowns, top pressure, hard punches and the papakha hat that adorns his head upon victory.

Nurmagomedov is a native of the Dagestan region of Russia, a state known for its distinct Muslim background, mountainous terrain and conflict with the Russian government. He grew up wrestling from a young age, even grappling with a bear cub as a child(and you can pit him against my Terrible Ted edit for some more ursine grappling), and trained thoroughly in Combat Sambo.

Known as the Eagle, Numagomadev joined the UFC in 2011, and has racked up a twenty seven win streak since, with victories over Rafael Dos Anjos and Edison Barboza before defeating Al Iaquinta in April of 2018 for the Lightweight title. He was then embroiled in a dramatic buildup to a fight against Conor McGregor which eventually resulted in a one sided victory for Nurmagomedov, albeit, without any cessation to the drama.
