Since official documentation for the VCT-1 Mining Laser Turret is not yet available, the Muthos Engineering Consortium hereby refers our customers to section T220-05A of our Frequently Asked Questions database:

Q: Can the VCT-1 be used for salvaging?
A: The VCT-1's cutting laser is approved for both mining and salvaging operations.

Q: Can the VCT-1 be used for combat?
A: While the VCT-1 may show potential as a weapons emplacement, it has not been tested or approved for combat situations, and as such using it as a combat weapon voids our limited warranty.

Q: Wait, isn't this just a VF-1B 'Xanthoptera' on a rotating mount?
A: No, simply putting a VF-1B on a rotating mount would be silly. The fighter is not weighted properly for such a configuration, and the engines would tear it right off the hinges! This is why, when designing the VCT-1, our engineers removed the engines and added a large counterweight.

Q: Can the VCT-1 be used as a flight simulator when it's not mining or salvaging?
A: Our legal department was divided on whether or not we should answer this question. Half of them said we should just say nothing and leave this out of the FAQ, the other half were busy using VCT-1 prototypes as flight simulators.
